Over the last few years, cctv cameras have become more sophisticated. Nowadays many of the security cameras do not require separate C/CS lens assemblies as the auto iris function has been supplanted by electronic shutter which has become integral with the camera and its unmoving parts.
The C/CS mount lens however is not yet gone, as it still provides maximum flexibility by offering variable focal lengths, focus, and is easily changeable.
Professional installations generally still require C/CS mount cameras with a good quality lens assembly, whether it is a manual iris, or auto iris. Typically these types of surveillance cameras will generate the higher quality video
